Shelby Softball Splits

Shelbyville softball rock 'n rolled against Warrensburg on Saturday, 10-0, before dropping a 3-1 contest against Charleston.

Grace Moll was in charge and the Rams batters had double-digit hits. Moll threw a 1-hit, 1 walk, shutout, with 12 Ks. The Ram hit crew had four batters with multiple hits, including three doubles, fueling a 4-run and a 5-run inning.

Moll walked the first batter, then threw out the second, before ringing up the next two batters. Shelby went empty in their 1st, as well. In the 2nd, Moll KO'd all three batters.

Shelby got on the board with a lead-off double by Brandy Smith and a 1-out, RBI-single by Rachel Fox, 1-0 Rams. Moll rang up all three batters in the 3rd. Then came the Ram 4-run 3rd.

Jensen Cloe led off with a double, followed by a Kayla Brachbill doubled home Smith. Madison Boone blasted a sac fly for a 2-0 lead. Moll singled a run in, then Smith singled a run in and went to 2nd on an error. Abbie Watton grounded out, but drove in a run, 5-0 Rams.

Moll gave up her one hit in the 4th, struck out two and Brachbill threw out the other batter. Kayla Lee walked, Mackenize Durbin sac bunted Leee to 2nd, and Cloe singled, but both were stranded. Moll struck out two more batters in the 5th and Watton made the other put out, 3-unassisted.

In the bottom of the 5th, Shelby earned a lunch break with a 5-run burst and an early dismissal. Moll cranked a triple and Smith reached on an error, scoring Moll. Smith stole 2nd. Watton walked and Fox singled a run in. Lee singled a run in and Durbin sac flied a run in. With two outs, Brachbill singled in the 10th run for the walk-off end to the game.

  • Shelby Sweeps Maroa Meet

    Shelbyville boys and girls swept the Tuesday triangular track meet at Maroa. Shelby boys scored 100 points and the girls 98 points, defeating Maroa and Meridian.
