Okaw Comes Back v. Heritage

Okaw Valley volleyball (0-5, 0-2 LOVC) lost to Heritage on Tuesday, despite a 2nd game challenge, 13-25, 22-25. They haven't gotten a win yet, but their coach sees it coming with their hard work.

"My team played well," said Okaw coach Jody McCormick. "We got in a hole early and ran out of sideouts to overcome the deficit. Shelby Dash was a passing machine and leads the team with digs and good passes. My setter Mollee Decesaro is working hard this year to lead her team to fill the win column. We play Arcola at home on Thursday and I know the girls want to come out swinging. We are working hard and just can't get over the hump. I see it happening soon."

A Dash of defense is making a name for itself as the Timberwolves search for a win. Senior Shelby Dash got down to record 38 digs in the 2-game set. Her sister, sophomore Megan Dash, was the net defender, rising up for nine of the team's 11 blocks. She added three kills to tally 12 net points.

Okaw Valley had 17 kills as a team from 17 assists, 12 dished by Decesaro. Abby Vanderburgh led the Okaw swingers with six kills. The Okaw defenders stubbornly fought against the Heritage offense recording 63 digs in a 2-game set.

Okaw Valley (0-5, 0-1 LOVC) was to host Arcola Thursday.
