NTC 7th: BCCH 3rd, SS/W 4th

SHELBYVILLE, IL. — Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick had a strong finish to take the NTC 7th  Tourney 3rd place game over Stew-Stras/Windsor, 24-19.

BCCH had two double-digit scorers, while SS/W had just one. That proved to be the difference in the ball game. Lauren Wojcik had 11 points and Tabitha Endsley had 10 points to lead BCCH. Megan Schlechte had 11 points to lead SS/W.

BCCH held the slimmest lead after the 1st quarter, 6-5. They extended to a 3-point lead at the break, 15-12. Stew-Stras/Windsor cut the lead back to one heading into the 4th period, 18-17. But down the stretch, BCCH pulled away on a 6-2 run.

Stew-Stras/Windsor made their reservation for the 3rd place game by losing to Altamont on Friday, 20-14.

SS/W held an early lead after the 1st period, 4-0. They held it until Altamont caught them in the 4th period to force overtime. In the OT, Altamont continued to have the momentum and pulled away on a 9-3 run, to earn a trip to the title game against Sigel.

The 2nd period was even, 5-5, as SS/W held their 4-point lead at the break, 9-5. The 3rd period was all defense and SS/W still led, 11-7 heading into the 4th.

SS/W didn't have a double-digit scorer, while Altamont had one. Mayhaus led all scorers with 10 points. Katrina Davis led SS/W with seven points, including a 3-pointer.

Schultz was the Altamont 2nd scorter with six points, while Schlechte was the 2nd scorer for SS/W with five points.
