Windsor/Stew-Stras Rollin'

SHELBYVILLE, IL. —

Windsor/Stew-Stras dropped the first game of their new co-op season, but has since gone a 5-game winning streak. On Friday they beat St. Elmo 11-1 in 5 innings, then swept a doubleheader on Saturday over Dieterich, 4-0 and 7-3, to go to 6-1.

A combined 11 walks by the opposing starters on Friday led to the 10-run win, as W/SS was able to take advantage and St. Elmo couldn't. Although he walked six, Christian Vonderheide of Stew-Stras also KO'd nine batters, throwing a no-hitter over four innings. Connor Beasley only gave up one hit three innings and trailed just 2-1. Then the wheels came off.

Windsor/Stew-Stras scored four runs in the 4th and five in the 5th to spin the revolving door at home plate and notch the 10-run victory. Allex Allen got one of those three hits and scored twice. Justin Fulk got another one of those hits and drove in two runs. Hayden Cole got the third hit , scored once and rove in one.

On Saturday, Windsor/Stew-Stras broke open a scoreless tie in the 4th with a 2-run rally. Hurler Ben Helton kept Dieterich in check for six innings and, in the bottom of the 6th, Windsor/Stew-Stras added another 2-run boost. Dieterich couldn't mount a comeback and W/SS won their fourth in a row.

    Sullivan-Okaw Valley track usually challenges Central A&M girls and boys, but on Tuesday they beat them in Sullivan. SOV boys won (100), Central A&M was 2nd (49) and Warrensburg 3rd (30). SOV girls won (73) and CAM was 2nd (62).
