Okaw Falls Hard To Maroa

SHELBYVILLE, IL. — Okaw Valley and their Athlete of the Week, pitcher Amanda McClain, ran into  a buzz saw on Monday at Maroa-Forsyth, losing 17-3.

After another Maroa ace, Taryn Tirpak, held Okaw scoreless in the 1st, the Trojans jumped on McClain for a 5-run rally. Okaw tried to get started again in th 2nd, but was held nil again.

McClain and the Timberwolves were able to hold Maroa to a solo run in the 2nd so they could try to climb back into the game in the 3rd. But they came up empty again.

McClain got jacked again in the 3rd for five more runs and the 10-run rule was in effect with Maroa up 11-0.

Okaw finally got on the board in the 4th with a single score to try to extend the game. However, Maroa exploded again in the 4th for six more runs.

With a 17-1 lead, Okaw needed seven runs in the top of the 5th to just extend the game. They got two and the early dismissal bell rang.

The offensive Maroa juggernaut knocked out 12 hits in just four innings, including five extra-base hits. Maroa slammed a double, three tripls, and a home run.
