The Shelby Area track teams are sending 29 athletes to the Illinois Top Times Indoor Meet at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington on Friday and Saturday. Shelbyville is sending 12 athletes, Central A&M seven, Neoga five, Sullivan-Okaw Valley four, and Stew-Stras one.
Although Stew-Stras has just one qualifier, its significant. Jason Fry owns the #1 seed in the shot put with a throw of 51 feet, 7.5 inches.
Shelbyville has 11 boys qualified in seven individual events and one relay. Shelby has one girl that qualified in one event.
Morgan Powers qualified in the girls 800 meter run with a time of 2:28.62. She has the 10th fastest seed time of 12 qualifiers.
The boys 4x800 relay has the 4th fastest seed time in a field of 12. Kenton Wilson, Preston Henze, Hunter Plummer, and Jordan Sieger posted an 8:30.43.
Wilson also qualified in the boys 800. Drennian Martin has the 6th fastest time (2:02.44) and Wilson the 12th seeded time (2:06.35).
Rams Jaden Stockdale and Tyler Pasley qualified in the 3200 run. Stockdale has the 7th fastest time (10:18.97) out of 15 and Pasley has the 11th fastest time (10:27.17). Marcus Skinner qualified in the 1600 run with the 12th fastest time (4:38.67) out a field of 15.
Jordan Smith qualified with a high jump of 6-2. That is 10th in a field of 17 jumpers.
Sprinters Spencer Shadwell and Luke McConnell qualified. Shadwell ran a 7.43 in the 60 meter dash, 24th seed out of a 28 runner event. McConnell has a seed time of 9.21 in the 60 meter high hurdles, 23rd out of 24.
Central A&M has seven different athletes in six events, including a relay.
Zach Ballinger of Central A&M also qualified in the 60 meter high hurdles with a time of 9.23. Teammate Jason Pokalsey qualified in the boys 200 dash. He has the 11th seeded time of 12.
The A&M girls 4x4 relay of Mikaela Cole, Paige Seitz, Ryan Dooley, And Jorgi Sparrgrove qualified with a time of 4:20.39, the 2nd fastest seed time in a field of 12.
