On Tuesday, Shelby went 2-0 in the conference by handling Maroa, 7-1. The Rams were not as proficient, offensively or pitching. Shelby pitchers gave up five walks in seven innings and hit three batters, but it didn’t seem to hurt them, except for one run.
Spears caught a fly ball to open the Maroa 1st, then pitcher Turner Pullen threw a batter out at 1st from his knees. After a walk, Pullen rang up the next batter to end the at bat with a runner on 3rd.
Shelby got on the board first in the 1st. Cameron drew a lead off walk. Gottfriedt reached on a error in right. Cameron went to 3rd and Pullen crushed a ball deep into center field that was caught. Cameron tagged and scored, 1-0. Pullen threw two more Ks in the 2nd.
