Shelby drops 3 straight

After their win over St. Elmo, the Moulton Lady Rams dropped three straight. They lost to Effingham 10 days ago, 15-9, lost to Charleston last Thursday, 11-3, then lost to Argenta on Saturday, 16-0.

Shelby fell behind in the 1st, 3-0, right out of the box against Effingham, got one run back then Effy got that one back, leading 4-1 through two innings. Shelby then lit the fuse.

Brianna Reed led off with a single, Hannah Kemp reached base Blair Rodman singled, then Sydney Trainor reached on a fielder’s choice. Kayla McCabe reached base and Shelby was up 7-4 after three innings.

Effingham made it a 1-run game in the 5th, 7-6, then Shelby got two more runs. Kendall Dunaway, Maggie Furr and Isabel Logue all reached base.Jayde Fox and Reed got on and Shelby was up 9-6.

Effingham struck back to knot the score 9-9in the 6th, then the dam broke in the 7th with a 6-run Effy rally for the 15-9 pull away win.

Against Charleston, Shelby had a lead once again. Kemp scored in the 1st after Trainor reached on an error. Savannah Marty and Furr reached in the 2nd and Kemp and Rodman drove them across for a 3-0 lead.

Charleston started late with a run in the 4th, then unpacked the lumber in the 5th and 6th, with a 6-run and a 4-run rally. Meanwhile Shelby was completely shut down in the final five innings.

Last Saturday, Argenta brought the whooping sticks to Forest Park.

They pounded out five runs in the 1st. Shelby got a 2-out single from Trainor, but she was stranded. AO got a solo run in the 2nd and Shelby stopped them cold in the 3rd. However, the Rams couldn’t get anything going to make a move.

In the 4th, Argenta broke free for three runs. Blair Rodman electrified the crowd with a lead-off triple in the Ram 4th. But, she was left on base.

Up 9-0 in the top of the 5th, Argenta pulled out the stops, scoring seven runs. Shelby went in order and the teams started getting ready for the 7th grade game.

    Shelbyville boys and girls swept the Tuesday triangular track meet at Maroa. Shelby boys scored 100 points and the girls 98 points, defeating Maroa and Meridian.
