Windsor opens with split

---- — Windsor Jr. High basketball opened their season with a split on Tuesday. Windsor 7th beat Ramsey, 37-16, while Windsor 8th grade lost, 41-7.

Windsor 7th built a gradual lead in the 1st half and had Ramsey doubled up at the break, 16-8. A 17-2 rout in the 3rd period was the death blow, putting the Trojans up 33-10 heading into the final frame. The 4th was sub time. The Trojans held serve and won by 31.

Beau Bennett led the Trojan triumph with 13 points, followed by a trio of teammates with six points, each: Tucker Cripe, Logan Greuel, and Ben Beck.

In the 8th grade tilt, Windsor was overwhelmed. A 14-0 Ramsey 1st set the tone and a 12-3 runi in the 2nd put the Rams up by 23 at the half, 26-3. The Rams called off the dogs in the 2nd half, but still extended the final margin of victory to 34 points.

Only two Trojans scored. Jon Trussell had four points and Ben Beck three.

Windsor 7th (1-0) and 8th (0-1) plays next on Friday vs. Bement @ the Cerro Gordo Tournament.
