SS/W splits with Okaw

Stew-Stras/Windsor Jr. High and Okaw Valley Middle School girls basketball flip-flopped blowouts when they met on Monday night, before SS/W got swept by Sacred Heart on Tuesday.

SS/W 7th took it to Okaw Valley 7th in the prelim, 28-6. However, in the nightcap, Okaw Valley 8th turned the tables and won, 29-9. On Tuesday, SS/W 7th trailed Sacred Heart early, got back in it, but lost, 29-23. SS/W 8th was shutout early, played even in the 2nd half, but still fell to Sacred Heart 8th, 22-14.

It was a tight 1st period with SS/W holding a slim 4-2 lead. But an 8-2 run in the 2nd gave SS/W a 8-point lead at the break, 12-4. A 10-0 run in the 3rd sealed the game’s fate, as SS/W went up by 18 heading into the 4th.

It was flipped fates in the 8th grade match-up, as Okaw shutout SS/W in the 1st half, 15-0. SS/W got on the board in the 3rd and trimmed the lead to 21-7, but Okaw pushed back in the 4th to get a 20-point win at the buzzer.
