Stew-Stras Splits Despite Sigel Runs

SHELBYVILLE, IL. — Stew-Stras Jr. High basketball hosted Sigel on Thursday and settled for a split. Stew-Stras 7th managed a 1-point win, 30-29, but Stew-Stras 8th lost due to a 3rd period Sigel run, 27-18.

Stew 7th opened with a 9-2 run, then Sigel answered with 8-5 run, leaving Stew-Stras just a 4-point lead at the break, 14-10. Then Sigel came out of the lockwer room with a 13-8 run to claim the lead, 23-22.

But unlike the Stew-Stras 8th grade, who also felt the fury of a 13-poin Sigel 3rd, the Stew-Stras 7th were able to answer and tip the scales in crunch time. Stew-Stras 7th out-scored Sigel 8-6 down the stretch and got the 1-point win.
