SHELBYVILLE, IL. — The Windsor Blue Devils were out-matched again on Tuesday night when Shelbyville came to town. But not out-hustled. Shelbyville still won, 53-39.

Shelbyville went on a 9-0 run in the first 2:00. But that wasn't the whole story.

"We relaxed," said Shelbyville coach Mike Steers. "We held them to 39 points, but they out-hustled us, tonight. They out-rebounded us on their offensive boards. We  got out-worked tonight."

After the 9-0 Ram start, Windsor outscored Shelby 9 to 6 to finish the 1st. In the 2nd quarter, Windsor almost played Shelbyville even, 14 to 12, and trailed by just eight at the break, 25-17.

"Brody (Bence) got into foul trouble and he's our go-to guy," Coach Steers said. "When that happens other guys need to step up. Jake (Keown) also got two fouls."

Bence had scored just two points in the 1st period before going to the bench. In the 3rd period the Rams stretched their lead with a 14-9 run, as Bence scored eight points, three buckets and a pair of free throws.

The Ram 3-point shooter, Nate Standerfer, buried a pair of triples, his second and third of the game. Standerfer scored all 19 of his game-high points in the first three periods. Windsor went just 1-of-6 at the line in the 3rd.

Up 43-26 to start the 4th, Bence made two more free throws, then Standerfer dished inside to the 6-7 Bence for two, and 21-point lead.

Windsor junior forward Hayden Cole, Bence's cousin, knocked down a trey to start a 13-6 Windsor run to finish the game.

"We've got to find away to do it for 32 minutes," Coach Steers said. "We've had our moments, but we need to play hard, play disciplined and get loose balls. They beat us to loose balls, tonight."

Windsor's coach Silas Pogue was concerned with their free throws shooting. They made 11-of-23, missing 12 shots in a 14-point loss.

Shelbyille (2-1) plays host to Okaw Valley on Friday for the Ram home-opener. Windsor (0-2) travels to Sullivan on Friday.
