Moulton Volleyball Sweeps Nokomis

SHELBYVILLE, IL. — Shelby Moulton swept Nokomis on Tuesday, 25-20, 25-14, and 25-9, 25-23.

“The girls did a much better job of staying under control in all areas of the match,” said Ram 7th coach Brittany Pierce. “We did a better job at the service line of getting our serves in. Our serve receive was a little better, although we still need some work in that area. We did not allow any long service runes by Nokomis, which was a positive. As usual, we still have a lot to work on before our next match. We need to be a bit more aggressive and pick up the communication.”

Ram stats: Shayla Darnell 17 points, 8 aces; Jodan Bruder 16 points, 6 aces, 4 kills; Savannah Marty 5 points, 2 assists; Emma White 4 points, 3 aces; Emmalee Storm 4 points, 2 aces; Bailey Buckles 1 point; Mallorie Mason 1 point; Kendyll Dunaway 1 point; Courtlan Stephens 1 point.

“This was a match that showed us a lot of our weaknesses,” said Ram 8th coach Lisa Peifer. “The first game was mostly serving on our part with big runs by Maddie Holland, Sydney Miller, and Shelby Hendrix.”

“We controlled the whole first game from start to finish,” Peifer said. “ The second game, we just didn’t take care of the ball. I think we were waiting for them to make mistakes, instead of doing out part to play the game. Down 18-23, Sydney took control at the service line to pull it out for us. This team has so much talent, but we’ll have to start taking care of business. Pana will be tough and we’ll have to be focused.”
