Limited Parking at Forest Park Thursday

SHELBYVILLE, IL. — Parking at Forest Park for the Fourth of July fireworks show is expected to be limited Thursday evening.

The carnival that is set up in the park will limit the traffic flow in and out of the park as the west part of the roadway will be blocked and traffic will flow both directions on the east side.

“People will have to be patient. It is going to take a lot longer getting people in and out of the park,” said Shelbyville Police Chief David Tallman.

Parking will not be available at Dam West due to the high water. Tallman suggests that people park on the streets at the northeast end of town and be prepared to walk.

“There are no designated handicap parking spaces. I suggest you get to the park early,” Tallman said. City police will be on hand to help with parking and traffic flow in and out of the park.
