Pana man charged with Attempted Murder

SHELBYVILLE, IL. —

A Pana man faces attempted murder charges following an altercation with his brother Monday night.

At approximately 1 a.m. on June 18, Thomas F. Loar, 45, of Pana, was arrested by Champaign County deputies on charges of Attempted 1st Degree Murder and Aggravated Domestic Battery which occurred in rural Shelby County.

These charges are the result of an altercation Thomas had with his brother Daniel E. Loar, 53, of Tower Hill. In the altercation Daniel Loar was cut with a knife and Thomas Loar fled the scene.

Daniel Loar suffered non-life threatening injuries. Thomas Loar is in custody at the Shelby County Detention Center awaiting setting of bond and is to be presumed innocent of these charges until proven guilty. This incident remains under investigation.
