---- — The 34th annual Moweaqua Pow Wow days are set to take place starting Thursday, June 6, and running through Sunday, June 9. The event takes place at the Moweaqua City Park. This year’s theme is “Where Old and New Friends Meet”.

One of the biggest honors in Moweaqua is to be named Grand Marshal. The 2013 Grand Marshal is Dr. Larry Page and his wife, Barbie Page. The Page family has been one of the more successful families in Moweaqua. Dr. Page runs the Moweaqua Dental Office and has two boys, Caleb and Colton, who both graduated from Central A&M.

“We wish to thank the Pow Wow committee for this honor and express our appreciation to the people of our surrounding communities for their support of our practice and our family,” the Page family said.

The biggest event in Moweaqua every summer has many activities set to take place. Some events include: the pageant contests, the 5K run, parade, Decatur Park Singer’s performance, the car show, and finally, the talent contest.

The pageant contests are for Jr. Miss Pow Wow which is in its 15th year, the Little Miss & Little Mister contest which is in its 17th year, and lastly Miss Pow Wow Qween which is in its 22nd year.

The Decatur Park Singers are now in its 42nd season and perform anything for all ages for the 2013 summer show. The group appears nearly 60 times each summer at other community events statewide and other social events. This year the singers will perform with local Moweaqua resident Jordan Villanueva on the keys.

The Decatur Park Singers will not be the only musical performance. The Rock of Ages will be at the Pow Wow for the 15th year. They play top hits from the 60s, 70s, and 80s.

The Car, Truck, and Tractor Show takes place every day during the weekend. Dash plaques are given to the first 50 show entries. Trophies will be awarded to the first, second, and third place winners in each class. And a special Best of the Show $25 cash prize and People’s Choice with $25 cash prize will be awarded as well.
