Athletic fundraiser brings in legend Matt Hughes

UFC legend Matt Hughes headlines the Shelbyville Athletic Fundraiser to be held this Saturday, July 20 at the SHS football field.

The day long fundraiser begins at 8 a.m. and will last until 9 p.m. Hughes will appear to sign autographs, photos and merchandise.

Breakfast will be offered beginning at 8 a.m., lunch beginning at 10 a.m., and supper beginning at 4 p.m.

There will be competitions during the day.

At 8 a.m., Buckstop Archery will host an archery contest.

It costs $25 to compete.

There will be co-ed volleyball competition at 11 a.m. There will be a prep wrestlers tug of war at 2 p.m.

There will also be a high school and youth wrestling exhibition.

Six raffles will be held. There will be a 3-day/4-night Deer Bow Hunt Trip raffle from Hadley Creek Outfitters.

There will be a Cardinals tickets raffle. There will be a Case Landsape-Trees raffle. There will be a 50/50 raffle and a half beef raffle.

There will be a raffle of a 1/2 day Float Boat Rental at Lithia Springs Marina.

There will be a 5-minute County Market Shopping Spree (up to $500).

Entertainment includes local and professional talent.

Battle Creek Band will play from noon to 2 p.m. Kris’ Power Tumbling and Dancers will perform from 3-4 p.m. Captain Rat and the Blind Rivets will play from 5-8 p.m.

Wes Ballinger will be the DJ and MC the entire day. There will be commercial inflatables for kids, plus 25 different food and craft vendors.

Concessions will be offered by Shelbyville wrestlers. Dinner will be offered by Pit Boss BBQ.
