SHELBYVILLE, IL. —
A Beecher City man has been charged in connection with the Tuesday morning stabbing death of an Effingham man.
Effingham County State's Attorney Bryan M. Kibler filed formal charges Wednesday against Charles D. Yoder, 51, of Beecher City, in connection with the stabbing death early Tuesday of Ted L. Debany, 52, of Effingham.
Yoder faces three count of First Degree Murder based on probable cause, according Kibler. If convicted Yoder would face a sentence range of 20 to 60 in prison.
Bond was set at $5 million. A public defender was appointed and first appearance with council is set for May 16.
Kibler commended the work of the Effingham Police Department, assisted by the Illinois Department of State Police, in the investigation.
Kibler reminds the public that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
