Shelby High graduates 76 Saturday

Graduation season began for area high schools as 76 Shelbyville High School seniors joined the school’s alumni list Saturday evening.

Graduation exercises were held on the school’s football field before family and friends.

The invocation was given by David Thompson followed by the welcome by principal Richard Stuart.

Student recognitions included those going into the military: Tanner Abendroth, Marines; Mitchell Barna, Army; Zachary Karraker, Army; Isaac Moore, Marines; Quinton Reedy, Army; and Eric Williams, Army.

Top ten students were Keeley Burhrmester, Samantha Hendrix, Mallory Jefson, Jacob Keown, Garrett Manship, Alex Matlock, Grace Moll, Amanda Overbeck, Meagan Stenger, and Neil Yockey.

Students of the Month included Caleb Eloe, Alissa Hudson, Mallory Jefson, Garrett Manship, Alex Matlock, Grace Moll, Nathan Standerfer, Megan Stenger and Neil Yockey. Garrett Manship was named Student of the Year.

The salutatorian address was given by Garrett Manship. Co-valedictorians Mallory Jefson and Neil Yockey followed with a joint address.

A special band number featured senior band member Abbie Watton.

Following the presentation of diplomas and the traditional tossing of the caps, Caleb Eloe offered the benediction and the students were congratulated by family and friends.

Central A&M High School also held its graduation ceremonies Saturday and MAPS held its ceremonies on May 15. Cowden-Herrick High School graduation was held Sunday, May 19.

Upcoming ceremonies include Windsor High School on May 24, Okaw Valley High School on May 26, and Stewardson-Strasburg High School on May 26.
