The Shelbyville Daily Union Athlete of the Week, sponsored by Prairie National Bank, has come out of the box firing this fall, leading her team to a 3-0 start, without her partner from last year.

Windsor’s six-foot, senior hitter Nikki Lamb, is the #1 option at the net and the biggest Devil for opponents to have to deal with. Last year, the Blue Devil volleyball team had their first 20-win season in over a decade. But, Lamb had a tag-team partner at the net in Marsha Marsland, who is now playing for Greenville College as a freshman.

Nevertheless, Lamb has taken the leadership load on her shoulders without flinching. She led the Devils over Argenta-Oreana, St. Elmo and Cowden-Herrick. Lamb accumulated 35 kills, 11 blocks and 30 digs in those three matches, averaging double digits in kills and digs and almost four blocks per match.

Her season high kill count before this last weekend was 14 kills against St. Elmo, followed up by a 13-kill night against Cowden-Herrick. Lamb had a strong four blocks against St. Elmo, then surpassed that with six blocks against Cowden-Herrick. Her season high digs (11) came against an Okaw Valley Conference opponent, Argenta.

With her kills and blocks combined, she has 46 points at the net in three contests, 15 per. That’s a Devil of a start.
