(Red-letter portions of the New Testament)
John 4:23, “A time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.”
Jesus tells us how we can please the Father. We must worship in spirit and in truth. Some churches focus on the truth part, because they can differentiate themselves from others by their version of the truth and fortify their own position. “We are the truth! Worship like us!”
How many of us focus on worshiping in spirit? We can declare our truth over someone else’s truth to try to feel justified. But do we truly worship our Father in spirit?
The Bible says in the last days people will have a form of godliness (their version of religious truth), but they won’t really believe in the power of it. It’s intellectual, not spiritual. Whatever their slight difference of truth from someone else, do they worship God in spirit and passion, like its real and they really believe it?
Its time to stop playing church. Jesus says so. Jesus has a sense of urgency. Do we? Jesus says, “You say there is four months and then the harvest. I say look up! The fields are white unto harvest!”
Jesus tells the woman at the well and now us, the time is coming, no, the time is here and now. God is looking, now, for those who worship in truth (“Thy word is truth”) and those who worship in spirit, in passion, in power, in reality.
In these last days, do we believe in the power of what we profess? Do we give ourselves completely to it or is everything else more important? Do we worship with all of our heart, soul, mind and, yes, spirit?
The Father is looking for those who worship him in spirit, right now. Will we be content to religiously continue the same ritualistic mantras or will we pour out our heart and soul in worship?
How long will we wait? Worship the Lord in spirit, and truth. The time is now!
