A weekend of holiday happenings begins at 5 p.m. Friday with the Annual Soup Supper from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Shelby County Senior Center in Shelbyville.
There will be chicken and noodle soup, cheesy potato soup, barbecue, desserts and drinks. The cost is $5 for adults, and kids 12 and under eat for free.
The Festival of Lights is set to make Forest Park glow Friday night through Dec. 30.
Light displays are lit 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Traffic will be watched so that lights are not turned off while people are driving through the park.
Holiday in Herrick will be from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Herrick Community Center.
Pastries, donuts, muffins and coffee will be served at 7 a.m., and lunch will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Over 25 vendors, a 50/50 drawing and a visit from Santa from 11 a.m. to noon will be at the community center.
The First Christian Church in Shelbyville will also be hosting a holiday bazaar from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m with booths selling crafts, gifts, baked goods and homemade candies.
Breakfast begins at 8 a.m. with pancakes, sausage, biscuits and gravy, fried potatoes and cinnamon rolls.
Lunch featuring soups, sandwiches and dessert will begin at 11 a.m. A cookie walk will follow.
A Christmas auction selling new items will be from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Eye of the Tiger Sports Complex in Tower Hill.
The auction will include toys, tools, metal signs, figurines, baskets, wind spinners, China cabinets, yard ornaments, blankets, bikes, trikes, fidget spinners, dolls and lots more.
Proceeds will benefit the Lions Club.
