On Thursday, July 16, 2020, Ella Forlines and Aaron Schmitt officially received their State FFA Degrees virtually during the 2020 Virtual State FFA Convention. To receive this degree, the member must have earned or productively invested $1,500 or worked 750 hours on their Supervised Agricultural Experience Program (SAE). They must have record books for ever year of FFA membership (at least 3 years), have a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale, and performed at least 25 community service hours. After filling out a detailed application, the candidates were interviewed by a panel of judges. Both members were selected by the judges as recipients of this degree.
Ella Forlines is the daughter of Eric and Tami Forlines of Moweaqua and will be a senior at Central A&M High School. Ella’s SAE’s are in the area of Landscape Management and Food Service. Her Landscape Management SAE covers her landscape work around the parks in Moweaqua that she completes through the Village of Moweaqua. Ella’s Food Service SAE covers her work at Moweaqua Foods where she works in the cookshack. Ella is currently serving her 2nd year as the Central A&M FFA President. She has participated in the Land Use, Public Speaking, Agronomy, Ag Sales, Job Interview, Parliamentary Procedure, Vet Science, Food Science, Poultry and Livestock CDE’s and LDE’s, and proficiency judging as well as many community services, leadership, and fundraising activities all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. She has been a very active FFA member all throughout her 3 years of high school.
Aaron Schmitt is the son of Jason and Leslie Schmitt of Assumption, IL. He is a 2020 graduate of Central A&M High School. Aaron’s SAE’s are in the areas of Small Animal Production, Specialty Crop Production and Turf Grass Management. Aaron’s Small Animal Production SAE was on his hunting dogs that he raised. His Specialty Crop Production record book covered his detasseling work through Monsanto/Bayer. Aaron’s Turf Grass record book covered his yards that he mowed around the area.
Aaron was a member of our Growing Leaders committee as well as being a very active member of the Central A&M FFA Chapter. Aaron has participated in the Ag Sales, Job Interview, Food Science, Vet Science, Poultry Judging, and Livestock Judging CDE’s as well as helping with a tremendous amount of other FFA and community service activities. Aaron will be joining the National Guard and leaving for basic training in Georgia at the end of July. After the National Guard, Aaron will be studying Mechanical Engineering at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville. After SIU-E, Aaron looks to transfer to Active Duty and work on becoming an Army Ranger.
Ella and Aaron officially received their State FFA Degrees during a virtual ceremony during the Illinois State FFA Convention. The Central A&M FFA is very proud of these individuals and all of their accomplishments!
