Kyle Ladd hired as Shelbyville H.S. principal

Shelbyville School Board president Rob Bosgraaf congratulates Kyle Ladd, who was hired as the high school principal for next year.

The Shelbyville School Board has hired Kyle Ladd as the new high school principal for next year, according to Shelbyville Superintendent Denise Bence.

"I look forward to working with the students, parents, school board members, educators, and the administrative team," Ladd said. "I feel very fortunate to be a leader in such a fantastic school district and to have the opportunity to serve our community. At Shelbyville High School, we believe that an enriched education involves both college readiness and workforce training. We also place equal value on civic responsibility and the importance of living a virtuous life."

The board also approved three year contracts for the returning administrators. The returning administrators are Shannon Shallenberger-Preschool Director, Ryan Scott- Main Street and Kindergarten Principal, Russ Tomblin- Moulton Principal, Tony Pullen- Assistant Principal at Moulton and the high school. The board also approved Ryan Brown as a high school English teacher and accepted the resignation of Paige Harlan, high school English teacher.

During its meeting on Thursday, the board heard the various administrators news and reports and approved the Consent Agenda. In old business, Bence recommended the board policies that were distributed last month for the board to review. The school board unanimously approved the policies for next year.

In new business, the Superintendent also submitted two Spring Break options for the school calendar for next year. One had the option of a week long break and the other was a 3-day break. The board approved the 3-day spring break.

The board also approved a contract renewal with Quality Network Solutions to provide the technology support services both onsite and remote within the district premises.

The board also approved items that deal with school security issues. They approved a contract with the lowest bidders for door replacement work on all the classrooms with attention to security issues and any potential lock down situation. The bid was for $196,000 with R.L. Vollintine Construction, Inc. of Springfield. The board approved a bill from Allied Design Consultants for $16,098.96 for architectural services. The board also approved a contract with Security Alarm for security cameras at Moulton Middle School.

The board also approved a date change for the next board meeting. Instead of meeting on April 18, they will meet on April 25.

The board went into executive session and later announced the approval of 3-year contracts for the existing administrators and the hiring the high school principal.
