Tommy L. Woolard, 58, of Shelbyville, has been sentenced to five-and-a-half years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the offense of Theft in Shelby County case number 20-CF-2, according to Shelby County State's Attorney Gina Vonderheide.
On Jan. 5, 2020, an officer with the Shelbyville Police Department was dispatched to Walmart in Shelbyville in reference to a report of a man who was asking to turn himself in. When the officer spoke to Woolard, he admitted to breaking into a home on South Seventh Street in Shelbyville and stealing some money, some of which was found on his person, Vonderheide said in a press release.
Woolard was sentenced on May 28. He was represented by Bradford Rau, Shelby County Public Defender.
