STEWARDSON—Stew-Stras High School senior Martina Gratz on Wednesday signed a letter of intent to join the Ole Miss competitive shooting team.

Gratz said she chose Ole Miss because of it’s small town atmosphere. She said while on her official visit to the University of Mississippi, she found she liked how well the all-female competitive shooting team got along.

“I really liked the chemistry the team had,” Gratz said. “I really liked the (Ole Miss) community, too. It felt like the traditional small town feel.

Gratz said she intends to major in business and go into a finance or accounting career upon graduating from the university.

Gratz does not compete on a school shooting team but said the high school has been very supportive of her competition in the shooting circuit. Gratz said her father, James Gratz, is her shooting coach, and much of her practice takes place at her home.

Gratz is a multi-state champion and has earned medals in the Junior Olympics. She has also been a member of the national competitive shooting team and has participated in two world cups, and she is heading to the Olympic trials for the 2020 games.
