Rollover accident

A one-ton truck slipped off the Clarksburg Road on Thursday morning. It crossed over the road, hit an embankment and rolled over. The conscious driver was taken away by ambulance.

A truck rolled over near Mt. Zion Cemetary on Clarksburg Road (Hwy 6, 2020E) in Shelby County on Thursday at about 10 a.m.

The one-ton truck with an open, empty cargo bed was traveling south on Clarksburg Road and slipped onto the shoulder of the road as it came down hill towards a concrete culvert bridge across Howe Creek.

The driver avoided the concrete guard rail, but remained just on the shoulder of the road past the bridge. The driver tried to pull back on the road and avoid slipping down into ravine on the west side of the road.

The truck shot across the road about 100 feet past the culvert and rammed into the embankment on the east side of the road. The truck flipped around 180 degrees and rolled over, resting on its side in the northbound lane of the roadway.

Shelby County Sheriff’s Office was on scene, as well as the Shelby County Rescure Squad, and Shelbyville Fire Department. Shelby Area Ambulance arrived and transported the driver to HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital.

The driver was conscious and reportedly was wearing his seat belt.
