A Windsor man died Tuesday at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana after crashing the motorcycle he was driving the day before in Shelby County, according to authorities.
Shane M. Kearney, 27, was eastbound on CR 1500 N near CR 3050 East at 1:48 p.m. when he lost control of the motorcycle, left the roadway and crashed into a ditch, according to Illinois State Police.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, at Windsor Christian Church, according to his obituary.
The son of Danny and Wanda Kearney, he was a 2011 graduate of Windsor High School, received his Associate Degree from Lake Land College and was employed by Mattoon Precision Manufacturing, the obituary said.
“He was known to always have a smile, was a proud supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and enjoyed playing pool, cards and many other board games,” the obituary said.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his fiancé, Bailey Maycroft; daughter, Averie Kearney; brothers: Jeremy Cobb and Stephen Kearney; and sister, Paige Kearney, all of Windsor.
In a separate incident, a Shelbyville man was hospitalized after the motorcycle he was driving crashed Wednesday in Beecher City, according to Illinois State Police.
Randy L. James, 61, turned northbound onto Route 128 from Route 33 and lost control because of a significant amount of a an unknown liquid on the roadway, possibly diesel fuel, police said.
The motorcycle overturned and came to rest in the roadway. James was transported to St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
