Shelbyville basketball celebrated Senior Night, then was almost run out of the gym by Tolono in the 1st half. The Rams recovered and matched Tolono in the 2nd half to finish strong in their final home game, despite losing, 62-41.
Senior reserve Travis Lee went up for the opening tip. Tolono got the ball and shot. Senior back-up center Jon Eloe grabbed the rebound and the Rams came down and scored compliments of senior reserve Connor Biehler, who gave the Rams their only lead of the game.
Tolono tied it on a long jump shot. The Rams had a pass picked off by the Tolono center, Larson, at the top of the key and he took it to the rim for a slam dunk and a lead, 4-2. Three possessions later Jake Keown pulled up and buried a jumper to knot the game, 4-4.
Tolono then stepped on the gas. Their defense out-muscled the Rams and their shooting sparked an 11-4 run to finish the last 4:50 of the 1st. They hit a trey, then a deuce. At 3:53 ledt in the period, the seniors sat for the starters, down 9-4.
Larson scored again, then a teammate hit a junmper. Black, who finished with 17 points in the game made two free throws for a 15-4 score at the end of the 1st.
In the 2nd, the Rams didn't score for almost 3:00, extending the Tolono run to a 16-0 run over 7:00. Tucker Schwengel crashed the boards on a Shelby miss, snatched it and put it back up in traffic to break the run, 20-6.
Tolono split a pair at the line, then made a baseline jumper. They scored again in transition, then out of the offense with a minute left in the half, 27-6. Ram center Brody Bence finally got on the borad with 30 seconds left in the half with a turn around jumper in the lane, 27-8. Tolono finished the half with a 3-pointer with four seconds left, 30-8.
The Rams figured out how to score in the 3rd and more than matched Tolono. Bence converted a 3-point play and back-up point guard Spencer Shadwell split a pair at the line, knocked down a trey, made two foul shots, then buried another trey. Bence scored again, Darin Breeden scored twice ans Schwengel scored again for 20 points, more than double what they had in the whole 1st half.
Meanwhile, Larson made hay in the 3rd for Tolono. The big man scored three times, then made 4-of-4 at the line for ten of his game-high 18 points. Thorson scored twice and Fender made two free throws and a deuce for 18 points.
Aftre trimming the deficit by two points, Shelby started the 4th down by 20, 48-28. The Rams got seven players into the act as they attacked from every direction. Breeden scored from the floor. Bence scored from the floor.
Eloe made two free throws. Biehler made 1-of-2 foul shots. Travis Lee scored from the floor. Shadwell was fouled on a 3-pointer and made 2-of-3 free throws to cap his team-high 11 points. Keown made two free throws for 13 Ram points.
Tolono answered with 14 points, including a pair of throws from Lasron and a final two. Black made 2-of-4 free throws, then a triple and 1-of-2 final foul shots. Thorson and Restad added solo twos to maintain the 20-point lead, despite the Ram last ditch effort.

Although the Ram varsity dropped their final home game of the season, the Ram JV finished their home performances with a 17-point win, 49-32
The Rams came back from a 14-8 deficit to make it a 1-point game at the half, 20-19. A 17-7 run in the 3rd turned the tide and gav ethem a 9-point lead heading into the final frame. They secured the win with a 13-5 run.
Big man Cwenton Williams and 3-point specialist Drennian Martin led them with 14 points each.
