Last weekend, food items were collected at the Shelby Electric Cooperatives employee Christmas party to benefit the C.E.F.S. Food Pantry.

“We can’t give enough thanks to Shelby Electric Cooperative and other individuals, groups and companies who contribute and donate to our Food Pantry,” said Beth Marts, C.E.F.S. Coordinator.

“This time of year we see an increase in the number of individuals and families coming in and needing our assistance with food items,” Marts added.

C.E.F.S. provided 361 individuals to include 136 families with groceries in October and in November the agency provided food to 448 individuals, including 157 families.

“Food pantry cash donations and food items are the primary support for the pantry and we need these items year round,” continued Marts.

Families from Clay, Effingham, Fayette, Shelby, Moultrie, Montgomery and Christian Counties are served by the C.E.F.S. Agency located in Shelbyville.
