The Stewardson Lions Club will crown its 2011 Homecoming Queen at 10:00 PM Saturday, August 20. This year there are four candidates vying for the title.

The contestants are:

Hannah Beals, who will be a sophomore at Stewardson-Strasburg High School.  She is the daughter of P. J. and Kendra Beals of Effingham and Jennifer and Shannon Sass of Tuscola.  Hannah is on the high school track team.  She has received numerous awards as a dance student at Dance Etc.  Besides dancing, Hannah likes tumbling, drawing, taking photographs, watching TV, and playing with her younger brothers and sister.  Hannah's career goal is to be a nurse practitioner.  She is sponsored by Stewardson Builders Supply.

Desirae Moschenrose, daughter of Tammy and Larry Moschenrose of Stewardson, is going to be a sophomore at Stewardson-Strasburg.  She is a member of the school track team, the tech club, and the drama club.  Desirae enjoys swimming, four-wheeler riding, and listening to music.  Her goal for the future is to become a dermatologist and own her own business. Desirae is sponsored by Off Route 32 Café.

Karissa Quinlan, a junior at Stewardson-Strasburg, is the daughter of Mike and Vanessa Quinlan of Stewardson.  At school, Karissa received an eighth grade arts award, participated in the German club, and is a member of the pom-pon squad.  She is also an Old-Time Fiddler member with her grandfather.  For enjoyment, Karissa likes swimming, drawing, hanging out with her friends, going to the beach with her boyfriend, and watching sports, especially football.  Karissa wants to go to college, and someday would like to become a tattoo artist and possibly have her own tattoo parlor.  She is sponsored by Prairie National Bank of Stewardson and Effingham.

Kelsie Walden is the daughter Jenny and Kent Walden.  She will be a junior at Stewardson-Strasburg where she has participated in the German club, and is a member of FFA, the cheerleading squad, and the volleyball and softball teams.  She is also a 4-H member.  Kelsie enjoys swimming, hanging out with her friends, and working at her new job at Pizza Man.  Her career goal is to attend college to become a physical therapist.  Kelsie is being sponsored by Auto Glass Unlimited.  

In addition to representing the Stewardson Lions Club in local parades, the candidates are working hard helping with the sale of the club's raffle tickets.
