Margaret Susan Smith

Margaret Susan Smith, granddaughter of William and Ruth Turner of Shelbyville, graduated May 30 from Gulliver Preparatory School in Miami. She is the daughter of Elisa Turner, formerly of Shelbyville, and Dr. Eric Smith of Miami.

At Gulliver, Margaret was an honor roll student. She was a member of the junior varsity and varsity cheerleading squads and was a captain of the varsity cheerleading squad. She is a member of Coral Gables Congregational Church, where she volunteered regularly in Vacation Bible School. Her community service projects also involved children’s work at the Miami Youth Museum and at Neat Stuff, Inc., a not-for-profit organization that provides new clothes to abused children. In her senior year she won first place for her bridge design at a school competition as well as first place for her architectural design in a county-wide competition at the Miami-Dade County Youth Fair.

In the fall Margaret plans to study interior design at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
