A day after Central A&M (25-3, 6-0 CIC) cemented their hold on the Central Illinois Conference by beating Shelbyville in Shelbyville, the Raiders squeezed by Robinson, 51-47.
It was a different dynamic against Robinson, even though it was again below A&M's average. The Raiders held a modest lead in the uptemp 1st, 17-13. However, Robinson clamped down and won a tight 2nd period, 13-8 to take a 1-point lead at the half, 26-25.
A&M smacked back in the gut-check 3rd, 11-7 to reclaim a one possession lead heading into the fateful 4th, 36-33. It was blow-for-blow in the final frame, but that only benefited the Raiders and kept the pendulum their way at the buzzer.
Conner Heaton recorded a trey hat trick and led all scorers with 28 points. They needed his scoring as Jacon Paradee only had 2 points. Griffin Andricks came up with 12 points with two of his won triples. Austin Sloan and Connor Hutchins had 4 points, each to tip the scales in A&M's favor.
Free throws were hug in this game. Robinson had one more field goal than the Raiders, a 3-point lead, 38-35. Robinson made 9-of-11 free throws (80%). A&M made 16-of-20 (80%). They added attempts gave the Raiders the edge.
