Last year, Windsor 7th grade volleyball went down to the Albion Lions in two games in the sectional final. The Trojans played better in the rematch on Monday, but still fell short, 25-18, 16-25, 13-25.

After Albion beat Windsor last year, they went on to claim third place in the state. This year, the Trojans were a year older, more mature.

and playing their best volleyball as the season went on. These Windsor girls had already claimed the only 7th grade regional title in school history and just the second 8th grade regional crown. They entered the St. Elmo 8-2A Sectional final on Monday with a record of 16-5, having beaten #1 seeded St. Elmo in the St. Elmo Regional final the previous Thursday.

But, Albion once again stood in Windsor’s way for a trip to State.

Windsor took the first big step, taking game one from the Lions with a solid 25-18 win. However, that woke the Lions up and they began to roar. Albion took game two for the equalizer and it all came down to the deuce game. Albion’s experience and confidence won took over and sent them back to State.

The star middle for Windsor, Bailey McQueen led the way again at the net, but was held to just six kills by her Albion equals. Jenny Bullock followed McQueen with five kills. Lindsey Floyd came up big at the service line again with six aces in the 3-game set. Amanda Tucker joined Floyd as the team aces. Tucker also had half a dozen aces. Floyd also led in assists, dishing out four.
