The CHBC Bobcat volleyball team knocked off Nokomis on Saturday at the Altamont tournament. CHBC won one, lost one, and tied one at the tourney.

In the first match, CHBC ended with a tie against South Central. CHBC lost the first set, 16-25, but came back and won the 2nd set, 25-14, settling for a split.

In the second match of the day, the Bobcats knocked off Nokomis, 25-10, 25-23. In the third match CHBC lost to Vandalia, but almost forced a 3rd set, 15-25, 23-25.

Against Nokomis, a team that lost to Shelbyville on Thursday (25-15, 25-8), CHBC was one their game early, winning by 15 points. But, they had to hold on in the 2nd set for the 2-point win. CHBC outscored Nokomis by 17 points in the match, 50 to 33.

CHBC recorded 66 kills, 22 aces, and 8 blocks for 96 attack points out of total 129 points (74%). 

Lauren Wojcik and Tayana Duckwitz, both who didn't score much in the win against Ramsey on Thursday, led the Bobcats on Saturday.

Duckwitz hit for 18 kills, served 4 aces, and added a block for 23 attack points. Wojcik swung for 17 kills, served 4 aces and stuffed 3 blocks for 24 attack points.

Assists were huge for the Bobcats. They dished 53 assists towards their 66 kills (80%). Kylee Bertin dished 18 assists, Paeton Underwood 16, and Abby Sloan 15.    

CHBC didn't report digs from Saturday. That was the key to victory on Thursday.

CHBC (3-4-1) travel to Okaw Valley on Monday.
