The CHBC junior high boys basketball teams had their second split this week. They split with North Clay on Monday and they split with Okaw Valley on Tuesday.
After the loss to North Clay, CHBC 7th (8-8, 5-2 NTC) lost to Timberwolves on Tuesday, 26-19. CHBC 8th (8-5, 6-1 NTC) defeated the Timberwolves, 39-18.
Carson Evans paced the CHBC Bobcat 8th grade in their win over Okaw valley on Tuesday. He scored a triple in every period and finished with 16 points, almost as many as Okaw Valley.
Evans had a trey and a deuce in the 1st, while Clayton Wojcik downed a trey, and Rylee Fisher, Zander Merrifield, and Gage Lorton had solo twos in a 14-3 run. Gibson Dickens had a 3 for Okaw and they missed 5 free throws.
In the 2nd period, Evans had anothe bomb from downtown and Lorton scored twice in a 7-4 run. Kabe Benning had both Okaw scores in the 2nd as they fell behind by 14 at the half, 21-7.
CHBC stayed a pace ahead of Okaw in the 3rd. Evans nailed a solo trey and Clayton Wojcik, Layne Jones, and Kaleb Melvin had solo twos. Okaw got another trey from Dickens and a deuce from Dylan Miller. Kolby Forlines was 2-of-5 at the line and Ryan Forlines was 1-of-2.
Okaw was still down by 17 to start the 4th, 32-15. CHBC held serve in the 4th, 7-3 for the win. Evans made two free throws and then his final triple. Kaidyn Calame scored. Okaw got a 3 from Josh Lehman and they missed six more foul shots.
Okaw finished just 3-of-25 from the line. They had three twos and three threes. CHBC had 16 field goals, five from downtown.

The prelim was a see-saw, cgame until the 4th period. CHBC led 19-16 to start the 4th, then Okaw shut them down in a 10-0 run to blow by for the win.
Okaw led after the 1st 10-7. Moore hit a 3, Foster and Sparks made solo twos. Forlines had a free throw and a two. CHBC got a 3 from Wyatt Rueff and solo twos from Calame and AJ Radloff to trail by 3.
CHBC wrested the 2nd from Okaw, 6-5. Ernie Villar score twice and Byron Brummet once. Okaw had a two from Moore and a two from Creviston and one free throw from Spark. Okaw still led, 15-13 at the half.
In the 3rd, CHBC had a 6-1 run to take the lead. Villar and calame scored once, each. Levi Moon made 2-of-4 foul shots. Forlines was 1-of-2 at the line for Okaw and they had no field goals. CHBC was up by 3.
In crunch time, Okaw got a 3 from Bennett and two scores from Forlines. Moore made two foul shots and Spellman one in the 10-0 final run. CHBC missed three free throws in the 4th.
Forlines and Moore led Okaw with 8 and 7 points. Villar led CHBC with 6. An extra 3 and four more free throws tipped the scales for Okaw.
