Brownstown/St. Elmo girls basketball scraped by CHBC in OT at the NTC Tourney, but as CHBC struggled since then, Brownstown throttled the Bobcats in crunch time on Monday, 60-47.

CHBC started strong in the 1st quarter and still led at the half. Brownstown then stymied the CHBC inside game in the 2nd half, limiting shots and pulled away, out-scoring CHBC in the 3rd and 4th quarters by almost 20 points, 37-19.

CHBC took it to the Bombers, 16-9 to lead by 7, heading into the 2nd. Brownstown started their comeback in the 2nd period, pushing past CHBC, 14-12. CHBC still led by 5 points, 28-23, but the handwriting was on the wall.

Brownstown took the 3rd period, 15-10, to tie the game heading into the final frame, 38-38. From there it was all Bombers, as CHBC faded, 22-9.

Three-point shooting made the difference for Brownstown. Brownstown made 6 treys and CHBC just one. CHBC had 16 two-pointers and Brownstown had 15 two-pointers, a 2-point CHBC edge. Both teams were 12-of-17 at the line. Five more 3s were the margin.

Claire Wilhour led all scorers with 23 points (8/8 FTs) and Olivia Campbell followed with 20 points (5-3s). CHBC had two players in double figures, but not in the 20s. Guards Lani Morrison and Mackenzie Bunch scored 11 and 10 points, respectively. Morrison dished 3 assists. Forward Jaelyn Robertson did score 8 points with 3 assists.

CHBC shot 41%, but they just didn't get as many shots. They only put up 41 shots. They shot just seven 3's and only made one. One opportunity for CHBC was at the free throw line. They shot 12 of 17 (71%).

CHBC dished 12 assists, but only managed 22 rebounds and 5 steals. They turned the ball over 18 times.
