The Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Junior High track team finished the season strong this last weekend at the IESA State Competition in Peoria.
Five athletes: Chloe Atchley, Devyn Riewski, Jarrett Thompson, Kenneth Robbins and Gage Lorton represented the team in state competition.
Devyn Riewski placed 14th overall in the 8th grade high jump with a height of 4'7". Chloe Atchley competed in both the 8th grade 200m dash, placing 23rd overall with a time of 30.41 seconds, and the long jump where she jumped 14'3" earning 24th overall.
Jarrett, Kenny and Gage all earned a spot on the podium in their events. Jarrett Thompson placed 5th overall in 8th grade pole vault with a vault of 9'9".
Kenneth Robbins placed 8th in pole vault with a vault of 8'3". Kenny also competed in the 400m dash and ran a respectable 57.18 seconds, earning 11th place.
Gage Lorton competed in the 7th grade long jump and shot put. He placed 6th in long jump with a jump of 17'1". He also threw over 36 ' in shot put, which should have earned him 5th overall in that event.
