The CHBC junior high volleyball program is on a pair of streaks. CHBC 7th has a 10-game losing streak in regular season matches, not counting tourneys. CHBC 8th has a 6-game winning streak in regular season matches, not counting tourneys. CHBC 8th started the season with a 1-3 record, but now stands at 7-3.

The latest CHBC "win-some/lose-some" day was Tuesday against Ramsey. CHBC 7th took the match to 3 sets, but fell short, winning the 1st set 27-25, 8-25, 14-25.

The Bobcats managed 9 attack points in the match. Five players had solo aces and 3 had solo kills. One had a block.

Hadley Hagler led CHBC with an ace, a kill, and a block for 3 of the 9 attack points. Kendyl Vaughn had  an ace and a kill. Katlyn Arnett, Marissa Summers, and Koda Colman had solo aces. Audri Kaiser had the other ace.

Tuesday

Ramsey def. CHBC, 25-27, 25-8, 25-14

CHBC stats: Hadley Hagler 2 points, 1 ace, 1 kill, 1 block; Marissa Summers 6 points, 1 ace, 1 assist; Katlyn Arentt 6 points, 1 ace; Koda Colman 6 points, 1 ace; Kendyl Vaughn 2 points, 1 ace, 1 kill; Audri Kaiser 1 point, 1 kill. 

In the 8th grade match, CHBC ran away with the blowout win over Ramsey., 25-19, 25-8.

The Bobcat 8th recorded 21 attack points out of 50 (42%). They served up 19 aces and hit 2 kills.

Mady Wojcik served 12 points and delivered 7 aces. She also led CHBC with 2 assists. Chloe Atchley served 5 points and 4 were aces. She added a kill for 5 attack points. Gracie Heckert had the other kill and an ace from 2 points. Emily Finley stepped up with 3 aces, while Madison Dye and Cadence Sandiford served two aces, each.

Prior to the Rams match-ups, CHBC took on Dieterich on Monday. The CHBC 7th lost to Dieterich 25-14, 25-18 and CHBC 8th won, 25-5, 25-16.

CHBC 7th was out-scored 50 to 32, losing in straight sets by 11 points, then by 7 points. Kendyl Vaughn led CHBC in defeat with 3 aces. Hadley Hagler stepped up with an ace and a kill. Audri Kaiser served one ace. They had just 6 attack points.

The Bobcat 8th blew out Dieterich 50 to 21 in straight sets. They almost skunked Dieterich in the first set, allowing just 5 points. They followed that up, winning the 2nd set by 9 points. CHBC had 22 attack points out of 50 (44%). Devyn Riewski led the way with 8 aces. Mady Wojcik had 4 aces and a kil for 5 attack points. Gracie Heckert had an ace and a team-high 3 kills for 4 attack points.

CHBC (6-3) def. Dieterich, 25-5, 25-16

CHBC stats: Devyn Riewski 14 points, 8 aces, 1 assist; Mady Wojcik 11 points, 4 aces, 2 assists, 1 kill; Chloe Atchley 4 points, 1 ace; Gracie Heckert 3 points, 1 ace, 3 kills; Kaycie Stefanski 2 kills, 1 block; Madison Dye 1 point, 1 ace; Emily Finley 4 points.

Against Stew-Stras, CHBC 7th was thumped again, while CHBC 8th won a close first set then won by 8 in the 2nd set.

CHBC 7th competed in the 1st set, then faded fast in the 2nd set.

"The team played well their first game, but serving was at 65% the entire night," said CHBC coach Angela Jefferies.

Audri Kaiser led CHBC 7th with 3 aces. Marissa Summers served an ace and hit 2 kills for 3 attack points.

Thursday

Stew-Stras def. CHBC (0-8), 25-18, 25-8

CHBC stats: Au Kaiser 5 points, 3 aces; Summers 3 points, 1 ace, 2 kills; Arnett 2 assists; Nohren 1 kill; Karlee Smith 1 point, 1 kill; Coleman 1 point

In the prime-time match, CHBC won the 1st set barn-burner, 25-23, then used momentum to win the 2nd set by 8. CHBC served 15 aces, hit 5 kills, and stuffed 6 blocks, totaling 26 attack points (52%).

Mady Wojcik led the team with 11 service points and 4 aces with 2 blocks for 6 attack points. Gracie Heckert served 9 points with a team-high 6 aces and a team-high 4 kills for 10 attack points. Chloe Atchley hit 2 kills and 2 blocks for 4 attack points.

CHBC (5-3) def. Stew-Stras, 25-23, 25-17

CHBC 7th competed against St. Elmo a week ago Tuesday, but lost by 3 points in the 1st set and 9 points, as they faded in the 2nd.

AUdri Kaiser and Katlynn Arnett had 4 aces, each, while Marissa Summers had 3 aces and a kill, all having 4 attack points.

CHBC stats: Audri Kaiser 5 points, 4 aces; Katlynn Arnett 5 points, 4 aces, 1 assist; Marissa Summers 4 points, 3 aces, 1 kill; Kendyl Vaughn 4 points, 1 ace; Koda Colman 3 points, 1 ace; Shae Nohren 1 point, 1 kill. 

The 8th grade moved over .500 with their win against St. Elmo, 25-17, 25-23. They won by 8 in the 1st set,then came back in the 2nd set for an amazing 2-point win.

"These girls have really developed into a cohesive team," said Coach Jefferies. "We struggled in the second game and let the score get to 22-12. Devyn Riewski came back with 12 serves to win the game."

Riewski had 4 attack points, while Heckert had 4 aces and 2 kills for 6 attack points. Mady Wojcik also had 4 aces and a kill for 5 attack points. Chloe Atchley had an ace a 2 kills for 3 attack points. The Bobcats had 19 attack points out of 50. They had 13 aces and 6 kills.

CHBC (4-3) def. St. Elmo/Brownstown, 25-17, 25-23

CHBC stats: Devyn Riewski 9 points, 4 aces, 2 assists; Gracie Heckert 8 points, 4 aces, 2 kills; Mady Wocjik 8 points, 4 aces, 3 assists, 1 kill; Chloe Atchley 3 points, 1 ace, 2 kills, 1 dig; Kaycie Stefanski 1 kill; Lexeigh Thompson 1 dig.

The day before CHBC 7th lost again, while CHBC 8th went to .500 for back-to-back wins, beating Neoga.

CHBC competed, losing by 8 then by just 5 in straight sets. They served 11 aces and had one kill (12 attack pts). Shae Nohren had a team-high 4 aces. Koda Colman, Marissa Summers, and Audri Kaiser had 2 aces, each.

Monday 1/28

7th

Neoga def. CHBC (0-6), 25-17, 25-20

CHBC stats: Nohren 5 points, 4 aces, Colman 5 points, 2 aces, Summers 5 points, 2 aces, 1 kill; Kaiser 3 points, 2 aces, 1 assist; Arnett 1 point, 1 ace.

The 8th grade started to get traction against Neoga.

"It was nice to see their energy out on the court," Coach Jefferies said.

They recorded 19 attack points out of 50. They served 16 aces, but hit just 3 kills.

Heckert led at the line with 6 aces and Lexeigh Thompson had 5. Heckert added a kill for 7 attack points. Wojcik had 2 aces and a kill. Chloe Atchley had the other kill.

8th

CHBC (3-3) def. Neoga, 25-21, 25-18

CHBC stats: Heckert 9 points, 6 aces 1 kill, 3 digs; Thompson 9 points, 5 aces, 1 assist, 1 dig; Wojcik 3 points, 2 aces, 2 assists, 1 kill, 1 dig; Madison Dye 4 points, 2 digs; Atchley 1 kill; Allyanna Kaiser 1 point, 1 ace; Riewski 1 point, 1 ace; Cadence Sandiford 1 point, 1 ace. 

CHBC 7th play against Ramsey was down when they should be catching on.

"All of our stats went down this game and our serve percentage was the lowest all season," Coach Jefferies said. "We need to work on these, as well as, our court movement."

They were out-scored 50 to 26, losing by 12 points in each set. Audra kaiser led with 3 aces and Kendyl Vaughn had an ace, a kill, and a block for 3 attack points.

Ramsey def. CHBC (0-5), 25-13, 25-13

CHBC stats: Audra Kaiser 3 points, 3 aces; Arnett 1 point, 1 ace, 2 assists; Vaughn 2 points, 1 ace, 1 kill, 1 block; Nohren 1 point, 1 kill. 

CHBC 8th picked up a needed win, serving well in their win against Ramsey.

"The girls had their best serve percentage yet at 91%," Coach Jefferies said.

Mady Wojcik served 15 aces by herself (94%). She added a kill for 16 attack points, a season-high. Heckert had 5 point and 4 were aces (80%). Kaycie Stefanski had 6 points and 4 were aces (67%). Allyanna Kaiser had 2 aces in 5 points (40%).

CHBC served 23 aces, almost half of their points, They hit 5 kills to give them a total of 28 attack points (56%). Stafanski led with 2 kills.
