CHBC volleyball played the Pana 7th grade tournament on Saturday and came away with a couple of wins (2-1).
Taylorville defeated CHBC, 25-11, 25-9. CHBC then defeated Stew-Stras, 25-23, 25-23. CHBC defeated Nokomis, 25-23, 25-12.
The eventual champion, Taylorville was CHBC's first stop in the day. The Tornadoes were to tough winnig by 30 points. CHBC lost by 14 points in the 1st set and by 16 points in the 2nd set.
"Taylorville was a much bigger and better team, but our girls played hard and I was happy with much of what they did," said CHBC coach Angela Jefferies. "We did have a tendency to set the other team up, and they were happy to take full advantage of this problem."
CHBC didn't score any aces, hit 4 kills and managed one block for 5 attack points out of 20 (25%). The defense scooped 11 digs.
Kyleigh Linder swung for 2 kills and added a block for 3 of the 5 attack points. She also scooped 5 digs to lead CHBC. Macee Rodman and Makayla Thompson added solo kills.

The next match for CHBC was against Stew-Stras. It was a gut-check match, but CHBC pulled off the back-to-back, 2-point, straight set victory, 25-23, 25-23.
"The girls really started working together and playing well," Coach Jefferies said. "This was probably one of their best games of the season."
CHBC served 8 aces and hit 8 kills for 16 attack points out of 50 (32%). Macee Rodman led the team with 4 kills and serving 2 aces for 6 attack points. Kyleigh Linder served an ace and hit 3 kills for 4 attack points.
Ellie Miller served 10 points and 3 were aces. Birgen Schlanser served 4 points with 2 aces and added a kill. She led the defense with 4 digs. CHBC scooped 11 digs.

CHBC had a chance to go 2-1 in the tourney and once they got going they took it, beating Nokomis, 25-23, 25-12.
CHBC won three sets in a row in this tourney by a score of 25-23. They didn't allow Nokomis to take the 1st set and that set them up for the 2nd set rush. They went on to win the 2nd set, doubling up Nokomis, 25-12.
"The girls started off a bit slow after a long break," Coach jefferies said. But, they were able to pull their play back together, communicate, and take the win."
CHBC served 11 aces and hit 6 kills for 17 attack points out of 50 (34%). They scooped 6 digs.
Macee Rodman led the team again serving 10 points with 5 aces and hitting 2 kills for 7 attack points. Kyleigh Linder served an ace and hit a team-high 3 kills for 4 attack points.
Lizzie Parks served 9 points and 3 were aces. Addsion wasson served 4 points and 2 were aces. Makayla Thompson hit a kill. Schlanser led the defense with 3 digs.

CHBC 7th (4-6) and CHBC 8th (1-9) have a 3 game road trip, going to Dieterich on Monday, Ramsey on Tuesday, and Mulberry Grove on Thursday, before the 7th grade plays the NTC Tourney on Saturday.
