In the Pana Regional, Cody Gallagher rose to the occasion to lead the Comets in scoring and a 69-32 win over Ramsey Tuesday night. Two other Comets were in twin digits on the evening. Cody Rincker hit for 13 points and Jesse Brandt came in with 10.

Stew-Stras got off on the right foot and ran out to a 21-13 first period lead. Rincker hit for triple deuces; Ben Giertz and Gallagher had two floor shots each; Brandt hit for a trey and bucket and Conrad Widdersheim had a solo hoop.

Things got worse for Ramsey in the second, when the Comet defense totally shut them down. Zero points. In the meantime. Stew-Stras ripped off another 17 points. Gallagher hit four two-pointers, Brandt had two and Tyler Antrim had a single hoop. Widdersheim chipped in two at the line to give the Comets a 38-13 lead at the half.

Ramsey came back in the third with a renewed effort hitting for 10 points on a trey by Derek Gibson and three free throws and a hoop and two at the line from Isaiah Miller.

But the Comets continued to move along with another 17 points. Phillip Wetherell and Gallagaher hit two each and Jesse Williams and Ben Giertz had a bucket each. Cody Rincker fired in a trey and duece and the Comets held a commanding 55-23 lead going into the fourth.

Ramsey came up with another nine points but the train was already pulling out of the station. Stew-Stras wins going away 69-32.

Stew-Stras advances in regional play to create another matchup with Pana who won over Cowden-Herrick.

On February 7, Pana and Stew-Stras met in regular season play for a record-setting 250-point, triple overtime, shootout with all the bells and whistles. The two teams will play again on Wednesday night at 8:00 p.m.
