Windsor two-game winning streak came to a screeching halt last night as they returned home from a big win over Atwood-Hammond at the Shelbyville Shoot-out Saturday.

The Blue Devils were extremely blue last night, as they couldn’t hit the broad side of the Windsor elevator in the third quarter and lost to S. Elmo, 58-34. The Devils didn’t quit and came back strong in the final frame, but couldn’t make up the deficit.

Ace Camfield was limited to just ten points and a team-high seven rebounds and two steals, while Andy Bullock was able to arc his way to a team-high 14 points, with a quartet of triples (2 in the first, 2 in the fourth). The Devils had eleven three’s from four different players on Saturday. Last night, four found the range for a sortie of eight missiles.

The two teams were locked after one 10-10, thanks to back-to-back treys from Bullock. The Devil drought started in the second, scoring just twice from the floor, one a Stephen Woodruff trifecta. Camfield added a pair of freebies and a deuce.

Trailing by just five at the break, 22-17, the Devils couldn’t buy a shot or find their way t the free throw line in the third quarter. They were shut-out as the Eagles soared for a 16-0 run to put the game out of reach, 38-17, heading down the stretch.

The Devils came out in the fourth with all cylinders firing, but couldn’t catch up. Camfield hit a pair of triples, Bullock had another pair of long balls, Elliott Mowry rang the bell for one trey and Nathan Curry got on the board late with a two for 17 points. But, they couldn’t stop the Eagles who were “already gone” and added 20 points in the final frame to end the devil win streak with a kick in the gut.

“The final score to us is no indication to how the game was,” said Windsor coach Bart Wiedman. “I felt that we played good ball. We just did it offensively for three quarters, instead of four. I don’t know how many shots we missed, but they were all wide open. That means we got mentally defeated.”

Windsor (5-11, 2-4 NTC) has to host a red hot Neoga team (13-2) on Friday.
