The Stewardson-Strasburg freshman and sophomore teams took losses to Altamont, with the freshman team getting dumped 60-17 and the fresh-soph getting a similar treatment at 72-22.

Justin Mechling was the leading scorer for the Comets with seven points, followed closely by Tabbert with six. Everett scored one basket in the freshman effort.

Altamont blanked the Comet freshman in the first period, 9-0 and limited their scoring in the second to 4. At the half, the Stew-Stras frosh trailed 21-4. The Comets put up another six points in the third and seven in the fourth, but Altamont was too much, taking the game 60-17. The Stew-Stras freshman team goes to 3-8 on the season.

In the Fresh-Soph contest, Mechling and Becker pulled double-duty, making an appearance for the Fresh-sophs as well. Brian Carlson led the Comets with 12 points. Mechling had four after his freshman performance of seven and Jonathan Becker came in with a field goal. Adam Schuler and Jon Alward also had a field goal each.

Altamont dashed off a 25-3 first period run and it was downhill from there, as they continued to score at will racking up a grand total of 72 points, 42 coming in the first half.

The Stew-Stras Fresh-Soph went to 4-9 on the season after this loss and a loss at Casey Westfield last night, Monday January 16.
