The Windsor/Stew-Stras Hatchets had an impressive 2nd place showing in the CHBC Thanksgiving Tourney on Saturday. Neoga finished 3rd from the other side of the bracket. They played on Monday and the Indians dulled the Hatchets, 40-30.

WSS had two all-tourney players from CHBC last weekend, but Neoga just lost to the champion CHBC in pool play and had to play for 3rd place. WSS did not play Neoga in the tourney.

On Monday, the first half was back in forth, but in the 2nd half, Neoga began to dull the Hatchet attack and gradually pulled a head and established a lead.

Hannah Hayes led the Hatchets with 10 points as well as a team-high 6 rebounds and a team-leading 4 assists and the team’s two blocked shots. Post player Mikala Nichols had 7 points and 4 rebounds. Freshman Natalie Hayes made 3-of-4 foul shots and had an assist and 2 steals, despite 7 turnovers.

WSS had only 22 rebounds in the game and only 6 offensive boards. They had 14 turnovers to just 8 assists and 4 steals.
