The Shebyville Jr. Rams rock ‘n rolled at the IKWF Regional last Saturday, advancing 14 wrestlers to the Shelbyville Sectional tomorrow. Ten of the 14 took home the gold. Coach Tracy Agney also reported that the Jr. Ram Midgets (9-10 year-olds) were just one point out of finishing in first place, behind Springfield.

Seventeen Jr. Rams went to regional and 15 were old enough to advance on towards State. The Top 4 in each weight class advance in three classes: Midget (9-10), Novice (11-12), Senior (13-14). Only Novice and senior can advance to State. The Top 3 in each weight in those divisions can advance.

In the youngest age bracket, Lucas Brown and Hunter Daugherty competed. Brown placed third and Daugherty fourth, good enough to advance if their age group was eligible to advance.

Those Midgets were magnificent. Of the eight Jr. Ram Midgets, six captured first place finishes and another took third. Adam Hudson, Garrett Brachbill, Keiffer Johnston, Lucas Duckett, Jared Finley and Kacy Jent all won the gold. Wyatt Hamm placed third.

Alec Jarnagin captured a first place in the Novice Division, while Wyatt Fox placed third. Alex Jones, Jordan Johnston and Brandon Cloe were a first place trinity in the Senior Division. Kyle Brown and Bryce Henze also advanced in the Senior Division with a second and fourth place, respectively.

The Shelbyville Jr. Rams Wrestling program, in its tenth year, will host the Shelbyville IKWF Sectional tomorrow beginning at 9 a.m. Those who advance in the Novice and Senior Divisions from the sectional qualify for the IKWF State Tournament.
