Okaw Valley Lady Timberwolves played Mt. Zion for fifth place rights in the Okaw Valley Holiday Tournament on Friday, falling to the Lady Braves, 43-31.

Kristen Kuck led the Okaw scoring drive with nine points, followed by Sam Inman with eight, Brittnay Herzog with five, Brittny Arthur with four and Lauren Snearly with three. Abie Dean also contributed a bucket in the Lady-Wolves effort.

Okaw got off to a slow start in the first period, with only one field goal from Kuck. Mt. Zion rang up nine points including a trey and floor shot by Flider and basket from Young.

In the second period, the Lady T’s bounced back scoring six to the Lady Braves seven, but still trailed going into half time 8-16.

Okaw had nine points in the third period, from single baskets by Arthur, Inman and Kuck. Herzog was good from long distance with a three-pointer, but Mt. Z stayed ahead by scoring 12. Going into the final period, the Lady Braves held a commanding 28-17 lead.

The Lady Timberwolves mounted a rally in the fourth with their highest scoring period of the game--14 points. Kuck was good for double deuces and Snearly, and Arthur rang in solo shots. Free throw shooting played a key role as the Lady Timberwolves shot 6-12 at the line in the fourth. But the Lady Braves answered with 15 points of their own including a trey by Russell and three goals by Fletcher.

Okaw couldn’t keep pace and overcome the first half deficit and fell to the Lady Braves in a tough contest, 31-43.
