Moulton girls basketball has a bunch of splits this year. On Thursday, they were swept by Altamont. Ram 7th lost, 26-8, and Ram 8th lost, 40-20.

Moulton 7th didn't score in the first half. They had four free throws and missed them. Meanwhile, Altamont built a 12-point lead. Kylie Osteen scored twice, Skylie Klein once and kaylee Lurkin once. Libby Reardon scored twice.

Altamont doubled down in the 3rd period, scoring 10 points Klein scored three times and Lurkin and Osteen once, each.

Shelby finally got on the board with a bucket from Alex Jokisch and two free throws from Marley Phelps. It was 22-4 heading into the final frame.

Shelby got a two from Sidney Kuhlman and a two from Kagome Brown. Altamont got a bucket from Lurkin and one from Weishaar for the 18-point blowout. Klein led all scorers with 8 points.

Thursday

7th

The prime-time game was close at the half, then came the tidal wave. Altamont started with a 10-4 run. Brianna Grunloh scored twice, while Grace Nelson, Peyton Osteen and Kylie Osteen scored once, each. Shelby got buckets from Gabby Golding and Kinzee Musser.

Shelbyville answered in the 2nd period with a 10-3 run. Musser scored twice, while Caroline White, Millie Clark and Jaycee Brinkoetter scored once, each. Klein had a two for Altamont and Reardon 1-of-2 from the line, leaving the Rams up 14-13 at the break.

Altamont had a come-to-Jesus meeting in the locker room and were on a rampage the 2nd half. They returned to the floor for a 16-4 run. Claire Boehm scored 3 times, including a pair of triples. Nelson made two foul shots and a deuce. Peyton Osteen and Grunloh had solo twos.

The Rams were cowed by the Wildcats. Only Gabby Golding scored in the 3rd on two baskets. Shelby went from up 1 to down by 11, 29-18.

The 4th period had to be a reversal for the Rams. It wasn't. It was more of the same. Altamont finished with an 11-2 run. Nelson scored twice. Boehm nailed her third trey and Peyton Osteen made two free throws and a bucket. Shelby got a solo basket from Dru Clark.

Boehm, with a trey hat trick, and Nelson led Altamont with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Musser and Golding led Shelby with 6 points, each. 

8th
