After dropping two game sin the Clinton tourney on Friday, the Timberwolves split 1-run games on Saturday. They beat Hartsburg-Emden, 9-8, and lost to Meridian 4-3.

Hartsburg-Emden had the upper hand until the 4th inning. They trailed 5-0, when they exploded for 8 runs. Hartsburg knotted the score in the 5th, but Okaw scored the winning run.

Hartsburg led off the game with a dropped 3rd strike. A passed ball, a steal and a passed ball let her score, 1-0. Reese Nichols reached on an error in the Okaw 1st, but was left on base.

Nichols threw out the first batter of the 2nd, snagged a line out for the 2nd out and threw a K. Okaw also went in order in the 2nd.

Hartsburg stretched their lead in the 3rd. Nichols threw two strikeouts, but the second one was dropped. Two 2-out singles made it 2-0. An error allowed two runs to score, 4-0. A steal and a passed ball score another ruin, 5-0.

Okaw went in order in the 3rd, while Hartsburg had one single in the 4th. Nichols KO’d two more batters.

In the Okaw 4th, Nichols led off with a single. After two straight outs, Okaw erupted. Raleigh Mills walked and McKenna Phelps reached on an error, driving in a run, 5-1.

Lexi Mashaw singled a run in. Ella Roney was hit by a pitch. Lindsey Ozier singled a run home. Montgomery was hit by a pitch and Mashaw scored, 5-4. Nichols singled two runs home for the lead, 6-5. Lana Ashley smacked a double and drove in two more runs, 8-5.

Hartsburg came back in the 5th. Nichols hit a batter. A runner score don a wild pitch. An error, a single, and two wild pitches scored two and made it 8-8. A ground out and a Nichols K kept the tie.

In the bottom of the 5th, Raeleigh Mills led off with a single. She stole 2nd and went to 3rd on a wild pitch. With one out, Lexi Mashaw grounded out and drove Mills home for the walk-off win, 9-8.

Reese Nichols led Okaw going 2-for-3 with 2 stolen bases, 2 runs and 2 RBIs. Lana Ashley was 1-for-3 with a double. Nichols went the distance, going 5 innings, allowing 4 hits, walking no one and striking out 9.

Okaw then played Meridian and this time, Okaw lost by a run in the final inning, 4-3.

Okaw got a 2-run lead in the 1st. Rissa Montgomery singled and Nichols doubled. Ashley singled a run home, 1-0. With one out, Mills grounded out and a run scored, 2-0.

Meridian got a single, an error and a single. Okaw made a double play and then Ashley rang up a batter. Regan Coleman led off the Okaw 2nd being hit by a pitch. A double play, followed by Ozier hitting a single. She was left on.

Meridian got on via error in the 2nd, but they didn’t score. Okaw got a 2-out walk to Megan Roley, but she was stranded. Meridian went in order in the 3rd and Okaw went 1, 2, 3 in the 4th.

Meridian got on the board in the 4th. A lead-off error was followed by two outs. A single drove in a run, 2-1. Okaw answered back. Lindsey Ozier led off reaching on an error. With one out, Nichols reached on an error and Ozier scored, 3-1. Megan Roley singled, but was left on.

Meridian knotted things up in the 5th. With one out, they singled. With two outs, they singled a run in, 3-2. Another single tied the score, 3-3. Okaw got a lead-off single, but was left on.

In the bottom of the 6th, Meridian led off with two singles. A fielder’s choice loaded the bases. A single drove in the lead run, 4-3. Okaw came to the plate in the 7th. Montgomery led off with a single to put the tying run on. A fielder’s choice a K and a ground out, left them short.

Rissa Montgomery led Okaw in the game, hitting 2-for-4 with a run. Reese Nichols was 1-for-2 with a double and a run.
