Okaw Valley boys had an early run against Argenta on Tuesday and built a half-time lead, but had to hold on in the 2nd half for a 2-point win, 40-38.
The Timberwolves ran out to a 15-7 lead in the 1st period. They followed that up with a 13-7 run in the 2nd to lead by 14 points, doubling up Argenta at the break, 28-14.
In the 3rd period, the Bombers attacked on an 11-2 run and cut the Okaw lead down to 5 points, 30-25. The Bombers kept coming in crunch time and out-scored the T'Wolves 13-10. Okaw held on by the skin of their teeth.
Okaw had two players in double figures. Cameron Sharp quicked his way to 13 points on 6 buckets and a free throw. Freshman Tyson Montgomery followed with 10 points, scoring three times from the floor and making 4-of-9 at the line.
Case Crawford and Sam Hagerman came up big with two treys, each. Hagerman finished with 8 points and Crawford 6. The only other T'Wolf to score was Luke VanderBurgh with a bucket and a throw.
Okaw won the game by a bucket. They made 15 field goals with four 3s for 34 points. Argenta made 14 buckets with just 2 treys for 30 points. They were even on free throws to tip the scales Okaw's way.
