Okaw Valley 7th vb

The Okaw Valley volleyball team (#1) bowed out in the regional final against Altamont (#2) on Wednesday, 25-22, 18-25, 19-25.

Okaw Valley (17-3), the #1 seed in the St. Anthony 7-2A Regional suffered a mild upset last night to the #2 seed Altamont, 25-22, 18-25, 19-25.

“The girls played their hearts out, but didn’t pull off a win,” said Okaw coach Ashley Christensen. “We had a great season.”

Altamont challenged the 1st set, but the T’Wolves held them off. Momentum then turned to Altamont, as they won by 7 points in the 2nd and and 6 points in the decisive 3rd set.

The Timberwolves served 14 aces in the 3 sets and hit 4 kills with 3 blocks for 21 attack points out of 62 total (34%). They dished 5 assists towards their scores. Okaw Valley scooped 28 digs to try to turn back Altamont.

Reese Nichols led the way for the T’Wolves with 13 points and 6 aces. She hit 2 kills for 8 attack points. Ella Roley followed with 9 points and 3 were aces, and she hit 2 kills for 5 attack points.

McKenna Phelps blocked 3 shots at the net. Autumn Shinn served 3 aces and Jules Crockett served 2 aces. Libero Lindsey Ozier scooped a team-high 9 digs, followed by Nichols with 7 and Roley with 6.

Okaw Valley 7th finished with a record of 17-3.
